Spider-Man: Big Time Omnibus Vol. 1 Is Coming in May 2027

Amazing Spider-Man #648 cover, the Big Time storyline debut used as Marvel's Big Time omnibus cover art

The Uncanny Omar announced on his Near Mint Condition YouTube channel that Marvel will be releasing a Big Time Vol. 1 omnibus in May 2027. Normally I wouldn’t bother covering omnibus announcement news, since there’s a new one every month and most don’t move the needle for me. This one’s different.

Big Time is one of my favorite modern Spider-Man runs, full stop.

Why Big Time Hits Different

Dan Slott took over as sole writer with Amazing Spider-Man #648 in January 2011, and the early portion of the run had so much packed into it that it’s stuck with me ever since. What really got me was Peter Parker finally living up to his potential in a way that felt earned.

He lands a job at Horizon Labs that actually complements both sides of his life, his science background and his double life as Spider-Man, instead of working against them. For once, the character felt like he was moving forward instead of standing still. We got a mature, capable adult Peter Parker, not the bumbling man-child who can’t hold down a job that comics have leaned on for far too long as of late. That shift is a big part of why Big Time stands out to me as one of the more satisfying eras of the character.

What Happens Next

Marvel hasn’t put out official solicitation info yet, so there’s no cover art, price, or preorder link to share, just Omar’s announcement. I’ll keep this page updated as those details drop, so bookmark it or check back if you’re tracking this one too.

Once I’ve actually got the omnibus in hand, I’ll be doing a full, in-depth review here on Hobby Haul: collection quality, paper stock, everything included, and whether it’s worth the price for both new readers and longtime collectors. That’s a separate post I’m already looking forward to writing.

For now, this is a book I’ve been hoping for since I got into collecting omnibuses in the first place, and I wanted to get that excitement down while it’s fresh. The last time I was this excited about an omnibus announcement was when Marvel confirmed the X-Men: Blue and Gold Vol. 1 omnibus, and that one ended up being everything I hoped for.

Credit to Omar Valdivieso / Near Mint Condition for breaking the news. If you’re into omnibus collecting and aren’t already subscribed to his channel, fix that.
