Jim Lee has been teasing this one on social, and now it’s official: Spartan, leader of the WildC.A.T.s, is joining McFarlane Toys’ Image Comics Founders Series as a 7″ Elite Edition figure. Pre-orders open July 23rd at 12pm EDT, and honestly, this is the one I’ve been hoping McFarlane would get around to.

McFarlane confirmed the reveal directly, describing this as the newest addition to the Image Comics Founders Series — a line built to spotlight the characters and artists who shaped Image Comics in the 90s. Spartan is a fitting pick: he’s the team leader of WildC.A.T.s and one of Jim Lee’s signature co-creations from that era.

Why This One Matters to Me
Growing up in the 90s, Jim Lee was my favorite artist,and still is, honestly, and that’s a big part of why WildC.A.T.s was one of my favorite comics. I even appreciated the cartoon for what it was (that theme song is permanently lodged in my brain, for better or worse). Spartan was the team’s leader and my favorite character in the book, so seeing McFarlane finally give him the figure treatment is super exciting for me.
Who Should Care About This
If you collect Image Comics Founders Series figures, grew up on 90s Image Comics, or you’re a Jim Lee completionist, this is a pre-order to have on your calendar. The Founders Series has largely skipped WildC.A.T.s until now, so this is likely to be a lower-print, higher-demand item compared to McFarlane’s DC output.
