G.I. Joe Classified Series #188 Hit & Run Review

Some G.I. Joe characters just stick with you. Brent “Hit & Run” Scott is one of those figures for me — a personal favorite that’s held a special place in my heart since the vintage days. So when G.I. Joe Classified Series #188 Hit & Run was announced, I was excited… but also a little cautious.

With last year’s excellent 60th Anniversary HALO Pilot, I worried this release might feel redundant or even unnecessary. Thankfully, those concerns were mostly put to rest once I had the figure in hand.

Packaging and Presentation

Hit & Run arrives in the familiar Classified-style box with a carbon fiber-inspired design, calling out his role as a G.I. Joe light fighter infantry specialist. While the side art is a bit bland compared to some recent standouts, the green-heavy color palette pops nicely and feels appropriate for the character’s jungle warfare roots.

It’s not the flashiest box in the line, but it does the job — and collectors who display their figures loose won’t mind one bit.

Accessories and Loadout

This is where Hit & Run really shines.

The figure comes packed with a fantastic, well-thought-out loadout that stays largely faithful to the character’s classic identity:

• Assault Rifle & Pistol – Both weapons feature blast effect ports, which is always appreciated.
• Two Knives – One smaller blade and one larger, machete-style knife, both finished in black with subtle handle detailing.
• Grappling Hook & Rope – A newly sculpted, thicker grappling hook with rope.
• Opening Duffel Bag – A standout accessory that can actually store the grappling hook.
• Large Machete Sheath – Designed to attach cleanly to the figure.
• Wrist-Mounted Knife Sheath – A very cool touch that adds a lot of personality.
• Helmet & Goggles – A helmet with visor and Hit & Run’s signature red translucent goggles.

Overall, this is a really solid accessory spread that feels purposeful rather than padded. It’s one of the better Classified loadouts we’ve seen in recent waves.

Sculpt, Articulation, and Functionality

From a sculpting standpoint, Hit & Run looks great. The camo pattern is strong, the harness works visually, and the figure moves well.

• Articulation is good across the board.
• The ab crunch is especially nice, and importantly, it isn’t hindered by the chest harness — something Classified figures don’t always get right.

That said, there are a couple of frustrations that hold this release back from true top-tier status.

The Downsides

One issue stood out during handling:

Goggles fit – The red goggles, while iconic, don’t stay in place as well as they should and can be frustrating to reposition.

Neither issue is a deal-breaker, but they’re noticeable — especially for a figure that otherwise feels so dialed in.

Final Thoughts

Despite a few nitpicks, G.I. Joe Classified Series #188 Hit & Run is a strong release and a welcome addition to the line. The excellent camo, thoughtful accessories, and faithful character design outweigh the minor handling issues.

If you’re a longtime fan of the character, a jungle-themed Joe collector, or someone who prioritizes loadouts and gear, this one is absolutely worth picking up. And if you were worried it might feel redundant after the HALO Pilot — don’t be. Hit & Run stands on his own.
