2025 has certainly been a standout year for fans of the OG 13. We’ve had the Short Fuze & Steeler two-pack, the exciting reveal of Zap, and a steady march toward completing the original roster. But leading the charge this year was none other than Colonel Clayton “Hawk” Abernathy — arriving with one of the most iconic early Joe accessories ever: the Mobile Missile System.
And while Hawk may come dressed in a subdued, monotone palette, this figure proves loud and clear that simple doesn’t mean boring. Somehow, the bland green uniform ends up striking, modern, and eye-catching. Of all the green-based OG 13 designs we’ve gotten so far, this one might just be my favorite.
MMS (Mobile Missile System)
The MMS is a repaint of the Cobra Heat Seek Missile System, now reimagined in a clean army-green finish. Even though the tooling is shared, the new colors and the added details make it feel right at home with Classified’s growing arsenal.
Assembly, Features, and Details
- Arrives unassembled with an instruction sheet — assembly is straightforward and satisfying, especially seeing all the components come together.
- Features the same wheels seen on the VAMP and Stinger, but with much softer plastic, likely to allow easier removal and articulation.
- Includes classic design details such as:
- “US Army Classic Star”
- “Beware of Blast” warnings
- “Explosives” labels
- The three missiles feature updated sculpting with pliable fins and sharp black tips, staying faithful to the original while improving overall realism.
- Comes with several blast effects — smoke, fire, exhaust — similar in style to Scrap Iron’s effects.
Functionality
- MMS features a hydraulic system allowing height adjustments when connecting to vehicles.
- It tows perfectly behind Classified vehicles like the VAMP
- The control panel is fully detailed and rotates, just like the original, supporting its three-rocket firing configuration.
This is one of those accessory pieces that makes the Classified line excels at, it delivers the nostalgia while updating the original be more modern.
Colonel Hawk Figure
Hawk is #182 in the G.I. Joe Classified line and comes loaded with gear that blends classic callbacks with Classified’s heavier realism.
Accessories
Hawk includes a surprising amount of weapons, making him one of the better-equipped figures in recent waves:
- Submachine gun
- M16/AR-style rifle with scope
- XMLR-3A laser rifle
- Two pistols (one with an extended mag)
- Combat knife
- Backpack
- Helmet with visor, microphone
Helmet and Gear
The helmet resembles Breaker’s but with added vents and updated communication gear. The visor articulates, and the sculpting captures that tactical, real-world headgear Classified is known for. The mic doesn’t fit perfectly over his mouth but that’s just a small nitpick overall.
Hawk wears a padded plate carrier with crisp deco, modeled pockets, straps, and even laced boots.
Figure Design & Articulation
This version is a younger, de-aged Hawk, with blonde hair and a more early-career look compared to the previously released “old man Hawk.”
Articulation is everything you’d expect at this stage in Classified:
- Ab crunch
- Drop-down hips
- Thigh swivels
- Toe pivot
- Double-jointed pinless knees
Final Thoughts
This set delivers — plain and simple.
The MMS is one of the best vehicle-style accessories Hasbro has released so far, with excellent updates, great deco, and compatibility carved directly into its design. Hawk himself is a fantastic modernization of the original leader of the G.I. Joe team. Between the great sculpt, the loaded gear, and the younger portrait, this is easily a top OG 13 release.
Another strong entry in what’s shaping up to be a standout year for Classified collectors.
