Scarlet (Spider) Neighbor Review

Kaine Parker has always stood out to me in a Spider-Verse that’s become increasingly crowded over the years. Ever since he took on the mantle in Scarlet Spider, the character carved out a darker, more aggressive identity that felt distinct from Peter Parker and even Ben Reilly. That 2011 run remains one of Marvel’s most underrated modern Spider-titles, and when Mess Toys revealed they were tackling Kaine in figure form, this one immediately shot to the top of my must-have list.

Sculpt, Articulation, and Posing

Articulation is easily one of this figure’s biggest strengths. Built on an Amazing Yamaguchi–style body, the range of motion is outstanding. Deep crouches, wide lunges, wall-crawling stances, and dynamic mid-air poses are all easily achievable without the figure feeling unstable or over-engineered.

If you enjoy expressive, comic-inspired poses, this release absolutely excels. It’s the kind of figure that invites constant re-posing rather than being locked into a single static display.

Paint and Color Accuracy

The paintwork is clean and vibrant throughout. The reds are bold without being overly glossy, and the darker accents help sell Kaine’s more brutal aesthetic. Nothing looks flat or muted here — the colors pop nicely and look especially good under display lighting or in photography.

Accessories and Display Options

Accessory selection is solid and well thought out. Included in the box are:

  • Alternate head sculpt with smaller eyes
  • Two stinger blades
  • Two straight web effects
  • Two web-blast style effects
  • A flexible bendy display stand

The bendy stand is a particularly welcome inclusion, making aerial and web-slinging poses far easier to pull off. My only minor complaint is that the wrist portions of the stinger accessories aren’t painted red to better blend with the figure’s forearms. Fortunately, this is an easy fix with a bit of red paint for collectors who are bothered by it.

Final Thoughts

All things considered, this is a figure I genuinely love. Mess Toys nailed Kaine Parker’s aggression, agility, and visual identity, resulting in a release that’s both fun to pose and visually striking on the shelf. It’s a strong showing and has me genuinely excited to see what the company tackles next.

Now Marvel… about that Scarlet Spider omnibus by Yost and Stegman — it’s still long overdue.
