Legions Con Exclusive: Day of the Dead Sidewinder – Hobby Haul Review
Every now and then an action figure gets a repaint or variant that feels less like a simple color swap and more like a whole new personality. That’s exactly what the Legions Con Exclusive Día de los Muertos Sidewinder brings to the table. This figure is one of the coolest, most creative variants Action Force has put out — and he slides perfectly into display setups with Night Ops Senshi, Warpath Eclipse, and especially LooseCollector’s La Muerta.
Initial Impressions
Sidewinder has always been one of my favorite figures in the Action Force line, and this Día de los Muertos takes an already great figure and elevates him to new heights. The overall asthetic is bold and distinct without tipping into overly busy. The whole concept feels purposeful and thoughtful, not gimmicky — something many exclusives struggle with.
I do wish the pistol and base were unique pieces tailored for the Día de los Muertos theme. A sculpted sugar-skull inspired pistol grip or a themed stand would’ve pushed this variant into legendary territory. But even without those touches, the figure delivers a ton of style and shelf presence.
Packaging
This exclusive arrives in a blind shipper box sporting cross revolvers and the Action Force logo. Inside is the newer collector-friendly packaging, which is a great addition to the line — easy to open, easy to reinsert, and perfect for collectors who like to keep things tidy and in-box. The rear card art and combat profile remain the same as the Series 5 release, which makes sense given the shared base figure.
Accessories & Gear

Sidewinder comes geared up in classic Action Force fashion with a surprisingly generous and diverse loadout:
Primary Weapons
- AK Rifle with Grenade Launcher: Brown paint application, taped-up double mag, under-barrel launcher with blast effect port — and yes, the magazine is removable.
- Dual Mac 10s: No blast ports or removable mags, but the huge suppressors do take blast effects. Always nice for posing options.
- 1911/2011 Hybrid Pistol: Snake-scale detailing, red dot, combo light/laser, blast-port compatible, and includes a suppressor. We’ve seen this in accessory packs and with Senshi and the Ghost Operator.
Bladed & Explosive Loadout
- Large black blade with green sheath
- Three black grenades
- Three silver smoke grenades
Helmet, NVGs & Comms
- Updated Series 5 helmet with Peltor headset
- Quad NVG system fully articulated
Modular Gear
New modular vest that features:
- Shears
- Med pouch
- Side pouches
- Radio
- Holster
- Medic modular pouch
- Mexican flag patch
Figure Details
The Día de los Muertos skull design is absolutely the star of the show. It’s ultra eye-catching and has immediate shelf presence. He also features snake-scale tattoos running down the neck and arm, a great detail that ties the whole “Sidewinder” identity together.
Articulation
Articulation is strong across the board, as to be expected from a Valaverse figure:
- Good head range
- Butterfly joints
- Double-jointed, pinless elbows and knees
- Drop-down hips
- Thigh cuts
- Solid ankle rockers
The vest and belt do limit the torso movement a bit, but that’s expected. Removing the vest opens his range up significantly.
Final Thoughts
This is a fantastic exclusive — stylish, imaginative, and packed with gear. While a themed pistol and display stand would’ve taken the Día de los Muertos motif even further, the figure still feels special and thoughtfully executed. If you’re building a supernatural, covert-ops, or assassin-themed shelf, this guy fits right in. And if you already own La Muerta? They look incredible together. Hopefully this sets the standard for future Valaverse exclusives.
And if you haven’t already, take a look at our Phantom Corps trooper, another strong contender for figure of the year.
