Sci-Fi is one of those characters who can go either way depending on how much you like the classic neon aesthetic. While not one of my top tier Joes, I liked the character well enough and enjoyed him whenever he popped up in the cartoon. In regards to his toy counterpart, I always appreciated the concept behind the original figure, but the blinding bright greens definitely locked him into a certain era. That’s why this Classified release really surprised me—in the best way possible. The muted greens, modernized textures, and thoughtful gear updates make this version feel instantly at home with the rest of the Classified roster without losing any of the character’s signature charm.

Accessories

Sci-Fi comes loaded with gear, but more importantly, it all feels thoughtfully designed:

• Backpack: A sleek black pack with silver vent details.
  
• Hose: Black and silver tubing that connects seamlessly into the weapon for that classic “laser rifle energy feed” look.
  
• Laser Rifle: Loaded with sculpted details, including “target locked” text and binary code. The hose ports in perfectly, and it still manages to feel convincingly futuristic without being overly stylized.
  
• Blast Effects: Easily one of the coolest parts of the figure. You can configure them as a “charge-up pulse,” a direct shot, or a standalone effect. It’s always great when blast pieces serve more than one purpose.
  
• Helmet & Visors: A green helmet fitted with translucent silver-gray plastic and two interchangeable visors. The half-face and full-face shields look great and add a ton of personality depending on how you pose him. And of course just adds to the ease at which this figure can be army built.
  

Figure Sculpt, Details & Articulation

Sci-Fi’s sculpt is packed with little nods to both the O-ring classic and modern tech aesthetics. The haircut and face sculpt look great, and the vest armor—while it slightly restricts upper-body movement—adds enough texture and tactical flair to feel right at home in the Classified world.

Arms & Torso:

• Bicep cut, double-jointed pinless elbows, and chunky wrist gauntlets.
  
• Diaphragm cut is there but limited due to the waist armor.
  
• Drop-down shoulders give you enough room for most firing and aiming poses.
  

Legs:

• Drop-down hips, thigh cut, double-jointed pinless knees, and nice sharp armor sculpting.

Final Thoughts

Sci-Fi turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises in the Classified line this year. The modernized colors, the excellent faceplate options, the futuristic rifle, and the clean visor system all combine to make him a standout figure. I’d be thrilled to see a Night Force repaint someday, but even as-is, this is a fantastic upgrade for fans of the character—or anyone building out a laser-trooper or slightly futuristic squad.
